The city requests to be contacted first in the event of a sewer backup. Staff will determine if the break is in the City portion of the line or a private sewer line. If the break is noticed after normal business hours, call 911 and City staff will be contacted.
To coordinate sewer repairs, Brooklyn Center advises contacting a licensed contractor, such as Ouverson Sewer & Water, if the break is in your private lateral sewer line. Public Utility on-call personnel will be available to assist at 763-585-7100 from 7AM-3:30PM on weekdays or call 763-569-3390 or 911 for after hours, weekends, and Holidays.
Brooklyn Center does not require Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) sewer certification for home sales.
